Psalm 24

“Psalm 24” helps us
focus our eyes on
our Almighty God –
Creator God (v.1),
Holy God (vv.2-3), and
God enthroned above all (v.4).

Recording
Printed Music

Yours is the world, Creator Lord.
Riches unseen and unexplored,
All that our hungry hearts would own –
All flow from You, and You alone.

You are the good our souls desire,
You all the good that You require.
But who presumes on such a grace?
Who dares approach You face-to-face?

One with clean hands and pure in heart,
Holy and true and set apart.
Who can approach You, Holy One?
The soul that comes in Christ Your Son.

Open the doors and let Him in!
Let joyful shouts of praise begin!
Come, glorious King, we lift the gates!
Come, Jesus Christ, Your throne awaits!

The Allness of God

Our God is the
Source,
Sustainer, and
Goal of
all that is –
every place,
every time,
every person,
every circumstance.
This hymn helps us
sing that glorious truth
into the fabric of our hearts, minds, and lives.

Recording
Printed Music

All that is, all that was, all that ever will be
Flows from You, Source of Being, its Fountain, its Sea.
You’re the reason for life, all the why, all the how,
All the riches of joy, evermore, here and now.

You are full, overflowing, unchanging, complete.
You are truth in its splendor, no shade, no deceit.
You are perfect in wisdom, by faith understood.
You are justice unflinching, yet gloriously good!

You’re the breath of all life, all its wholeness and health,
All its beauty and passion, its grandeur and wealth.
You are all that the hungry and helpless could need:
Mighty grace for the sinner and freedom indeed!

All the love and the praise that pure greatness inspires,
All our highest of hopes, all our deepest desires,
All our worship and unending honor is due,
O Creator, our Savior, our Sovereign, to You!

Christ in Psalm 4

This hymn reminds us that
even in the times of our
deepest, most desperate need,
Almighty God loves,
protects, and
answers when we pray.

Recording
Printed Music

Answer when I call,
God, my strong protector.
Evil pulls and pressures me,
But I am Yours alone.
You have chosen me.
I am in Christ Jesus,
Called, forgiven, set apart,
Protected as Your own.

Evil is a lie,
Hollow disappointment,
Making empty promises
It knows it cannot keep.
Jesus, You are truth,
Light and love and beauty,
Full and everlasting life
So rich and real and deep!

Hidden here in You,
Christ, my mighty fortress,
Joy is flowing sure and strong
From what is always true:
Glorious, sovereign God,
Loving friend and Father.
Peace endures through every change,
For peace is trusting You!

Psalm 77

Do you ever go through times when
life and faith are
a struggle?
Perhaps now?
This hymn is for you.

Recording
Printed Music

I try to pray as problems press,
But nothing seems to change.
The solid faith my words profess
Now echoes with my emptiness,
And joyful songs feel strange.

O God, You seem forever gone.
My world is not the same.
The hope I built my life upon
And all its glories feel withdrawn
And mock the faith I claim.

But in the silence I recite
The truth of all You’ve done –
Your parted seas, Your gracious might,
Your actions, always good and right,
Your battles always won.

So in this darkness, Lord, I rest,
Assured of what is true:
Through every trauma, every test
Your love can only give the best.
I wait, I trust in You.

Love

Based on the Song of Solomon,
this hymn paints a picture of the
passionate,
eager,
self-giving nature of love –
the love that is expressed most fully in
the love of God.

Recording
Printed Music

Love is heaven’s garden
Where endless glories grow;
Love, the highest pleasure
That human hearts can know.
Hear its haunting music,
Though gentle as a dove,
Filling all creation,
For God Himself is love.

Lovers crave each other
With quenchless, deep desire.
Love is boundless longing,
An all-consuming fire.
Love is gnawing hunger
To hold that one alone.
With that burning hunger
God yearns for all His own.

Love delights in beauty
That only love can see,
Thirsting for the heaven
Of all that love can be.
Love is total giving
By joyful, eager choice,
Seeking, waiting, longing,
And listening for that voice.

Christ Is Shining in You

Based directly on Ephesians 5:8-14,

walk in the beautiful light of
the Living Christ.

Recording
Printed Music

Refrain:
Awake from your sleep!
Arise from the dead,
For Christ is shining in you!
Your darkness is past,
Your morning is come,
For Christ is shining in you!

Come learn what pleases God,
And love what pleases God.
Come live what pleases God.
Come and walk in the light of the Lord!

The fruit of light is joy.
The fruit of light is peace.
The fruit of light is hope.
Come and walk in the light of the Lord!

Rich in Christ

Some of the finest hymn tunes in all the world were
written by the Welsh, and
here is a gem you may not have heard.
The text celebrates the
unsearchable riches that are ours in
Jesus Christ.

Recording
Printed Music

Comfort calls with all its pleasures,
Love of money with its lies.
All will leave us empty-hearted.
None can ever satisfy.

Refrain:
Living Christ, our joy, our treasure!
Love and life forever new!
In Your presence, deep contentment;
We are rich, O Lord, in You.

Those who come find all they’re seeking.
All who knock are welcomed in.
Come and feast on satisfaction.
Come and find yourself in Him.

Psalm 71

Psalm 71 is the prayer of an
older person.
This hymn expresses the
vulnerability and
poignant faith of
that timeless psalm.
Do you know any older persons
who might find this hymn
meaningful?

Recording
Printed Music

You have been my strength,
Everlasting Father.
You were there to cradle me and soothe my infant cry.
Now that I am old,
Gripped by growing weakness,
Hold me ever closer, O my joy, my hope, my song,
God, my joy, my song!

In the face of fear,
With this body failing,
I am growing stronger as I trust You need by need.
Fill each day with praise!
Flood them all with singing!
May my every word and deed be always only You,
Always, only You!

Everlasting God,
Faithful, ever faithful,
Grace and truth and tenderness are always who You are.
You are all my hope,
You, my living promise:
Soon this seed will blossom into everlasting life,
Rich and endless life.

I Look to You

In the Bible, the ideas of
“waiting” and “hoping” are
inseparably linked.
As we look to God,
we wait in hope; and
because we hope in Him,
we wait patiently,
expectantly,
joyfully.
Here is a hymn that expresses such
hopeful, joyful waiting.

Recording
Printed Music

Refrain:
I look to You.
I wait on You.
I long for You.
I hope in You.

My Sovereign, my Father,
My Savior, my breath,
The joy that’s full in sorrow and
Grows fuller still in death!

Pure beauty like sunlight,
but brighter by far –
I drink Your rich reality
And feast on all You are.

O Living God

This text and tune evoke a
deep longing for
the fullness of the
Living God.

Recording
Printed Music

O Living God,
I long to see You
Lifted up in all Your glory;
To see You there in holy beauty.
O Lord, Almighty God,
Living Christ, I love You.

O Living God,
I long to praise You
Heart and voice, with all creation;
To worship You for tender mercy.
O Lord, Almighty God,
Living Christ, I love You.

O Living God,
I soon will see You
Face to face, in all Your glory.
I’ll worship You in endless wonder.
O Lord, Almighty God,
Living Christ, I love You.
