We Wait on You

A prayer response to Revelation 14:6-20,
a series of visions

Father, a voice within me is screaming:
“We are tired of waiting!
God, it’s time for You to act!
You see what Your world is going through!
How can You just sit by and do nothing?”

“Lord, I am tired of waiting!
I am ready to act myself!
I have ideas!
I have big plans!
But when I ask You to guide and provide,
the only response I hear is
silence.”

Father, I know what Your silence means.
Your silence tells me to wait on You.
Your Word tells me to wait on You.
My history of failure tells me to wait on You.
The saints of all the ages implore me to
wait
on
You.

So today I will simply be Your humble servant.
Today I will joyfully perform the little services
You give me to perform.
Today I will be loving and kind.
Today I will be faithful.
Today I will be prayerful.
Today I will listen for Your whispers
and obey.
Today I will remain fully available to You
moment by moment.

Father, Your ways are always wise, and
Your timing is always perfect.
I will wait on You.
We will wait on You.

New in Christ

Recording
Printed Music

New in Christ, now one with our Creator!
All the peace of Eden is restored.
Hear His voice, and feel the morning beauty.
Walk through the day with your loving Lord.
Jesus Christ, our God and now our brother,
Bore our curse and died with all our sin.
Life is complete as He lives within us.
We are holy as we walk with Him.

Risen Son, the first of many children!
Now in Christ a holy race is born.
All will share His glory and His goodness.
See how He glows in their face and form!
Now they come from every tribe and nation.
Feel their joy forever pure and strong!
Hear as they swell to a sea of worship!
Look to Christ and join their mighty song!

Worship by Faith

Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6, NIV)

Every act of worship is the fruit of faith.
To worship, we must believe that:
God exists, and
as we respond to Him,
He will respond to us;
He calls us to worship Him in spirit and in truth;
He is self-existent,
while we depend entirely on Him;
His authority is so absolute and His perfections so infinite that
we must put all we are under His control now and forever; that
we justly owe Him every thought, word, and deed.

To worship is to believe these truths and to live accordingly.

Wholeheartedly Yours

A prayer response to Revelation 14:1-5,
the 144,000 on Mt. Zion

Father Creator,
Savior Son,
Life-giving Spirit,
I am Yours –
completely,
joyfully,
eternally,
wholeheartedly Yours!

My love is Yours.
As Your bride,
my heart’s desire is
You alone.

My life is Yours.
As Your creation,
each daily thought,
action, and
breath is Yours.
Pour out my life in any manner You choose.

My worship is Yours.
I want nothing else,
seek nothing else, and
serve no one else
but You, Sovereign Lord.
My heart, my mind,
my mouth, my hands
exist only to
fellowship with You and
glorify You.
My joy is Your presence.
My ambition is Your approval.
My destiny is to stand before You
among Your people,
lifting Your eternal praise with all creation.

Mighty Day

Recording
Printed Music

When the heavens roll and tremble,
When the moon has turned to blood,
When music has fallen silent, Lord,
And fear comes like a flood,

Refrain:
Won’t it be a mighty day!
Won’t it be a solemn day!
Won’t it be a joyful, endless morning, Lord,
When we see You face to face!

Can you hear the peoples wailing,
Can you hear the shouts of praise
When everyone sees eternal truth
Too late to change their ways?

Keep your heart all tuned and ready!
O be faithful to the end!
Your Father will smile and speak your name:
”Well done! Come enter in!”

Fearing Change

“Listen to Me…
You who have been borne by Me from birth
And have been carried from the womb;
Even to your old age I will be the same,
And even to your graying years I will bear you!
I have done it, and I will carry you;
I will bear you and I will deliver you.”
(Isaiah 46:3-4, NASB)

“I, the Lord, do not change.”
(Malachi 3:6, NASB)

God of unfailing, unrestrainable love,
how often do I
resent and
resist
the blessings You send me!
I hide.
I argue.
I lash out.
I whine and complain like a child,
fearful of change.
I cling to my poverty because it is
familiar and
safe.

O Father, forgive me!
Forgive me for mistrusting Your love!

You are the unchanging God,
always only wisdom,
always only good,
always only bringing our best.
Through all the changes and seasons of life,
I will look to You.
I will bring my concerns to You.
I will trust You.
And then, even in my ignorance,
I will rejoice in what
Your omniscient love is doing for me.

You are good, Father!
You are always good, and
Your love endures forever!

Stay Focused on the Truth

A reflection on Revelation 13:11-18,
the beast from the earth

When [Satan] lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44, NIV)

Sovereign God is
all power,
all wisdom, and
all love.
He Himself is life and
all goodness.
He is the truth,
the one eternal, universal reality.
He is All-in-all.

Thus Satan’s only weapon is deception.
When he lies, he speaks his native language.
When he speaks,
his purpose is always to deceive.
He will even use half-truths as
weapons of deceit,
just as he did with Jesus in the wilderness.

In his last desperate days on earth, he will
re-enforce his lies with false wonders that
promise a power he does not possess.
He will increase persecution of God’s children with
social pressure,
economic suffering, and
physical force.
Most people will accept his lies, and
believers will pay for the truth
with their lives.

Jesus Christ is always the truth.
He alone is
universal,
eternal,
glorious reality.
Keep your mind,
your heart, and
your daily life
focused on Him.

Love of God, Possess Me

Recording
Printed Music

Love of God, possess me.
Rule and set me free,
Free to serve You fully –
Perfect liberty!
Through my words and actions
Let Your kindness flow.
Lead me to Your work, Lord.
Joyfully I’ll go.
Love of God, possess me.
Rule and set me free,
Free to serve You fully –
Perfect liberty!

Truth of God, possess me.
Sing here in my soul.
Share Your precious wisdom.
Speak Your words of gold.
Help me hear each whisper,
Walk in all Your light,
Living every promise,
Pleasing in Your sight.
Truth of God, possess me.
Sing here in my soul.
Share Your precious wisdom.
Speak Your words of gold.

Life in God our Father,
Love in Christ the Son,
Truth in God the Spirit –
Fullness here begun!
Resting in Your power,
Strong in sweet release,
Joyful in Your presence,
Walking in Your peace!
Life in God our Father,
Love in Christ the Son,
Truth in God the Spirit –
Fullness here begun!

Moment by Moment

John 5:19-20, 30; 14:10

Father, Jesus always only
said what You told Him to say and
did what You showed Him to do.
Thus He was
always in You,
always in the moment,
always focused on You,
always fully responding to You.

That is what I want, Father.
Give me His mind and
His Spirit.
I am too often
distracted from You and
distracted from the individuals, needs, and opportunities
right in front of me.

Father, may my heart and mind be
always here,
always now,
always trusting,
always listening,
always open to the gentle wisdom of Your love.

Keep me
like Christ,
in Christ,
moment by moment.

When Darkness Comes

A prayer response to Revelation 13:1-10,
the beast from the sea

When good comes to me,
I accept it as from Your gracious hand.
I look to You.
I thank You.
I rejoice in You.

But how do I respond when my days bring me
darkness and uncertainty,
mistreatment and injustice,
pain and sickness,
suffering and sorrow,
loss and the shadow of death?
Where do I look then?

I look to You.
You are still
Almighty God.
You are still
perfect wisdom and
unfailing love.
You are still good and right in all You do.
You are still
my Father.

I believe in You.
I believe in You
when I understand.
I believe in You
when I cannot understand.

I wait on You.
I hope in You.
I trust You.
I rejoice in You.
I follow You,
even into the darkness.
