Eternal God

They said to Him, “What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.” (John 6:29, NASB)

Eternal God, You overflow
all the vast universe and
all human thought and imagination.
Though You are consistent,
You consistently stretch every comfortable understanding of You.

But what you require of us is amazingly, stunningly simple:
Trust Me.

As we trust You,
we live in the comforting truth of
Your greatness and
our smallness.

As we trust You,
we fear You
and fear nothing else.

As we trust You,
our horizons are as vast as You are.
We share Your character,
Your power,
Your goodness, and
Your unlimited future.

As we trust You,
we are unmoved by threats and
unconcerned about unknowns.
We look beyond today’s ups and downs.
Fruitless worry disappears into peace
when we see only You.

Father,
as we begin to know You better,
as mental beliefs become personal reality,
more and more life is
simple faith.
We simply rely on
You being You.

A thankful heart, a thankful heart,
Lord, grow in me a thankful heart.
So many gifts You give each day!
I ask one more: a thankful heart.

A simple faith, a simple faith,
For every need, a simple faith.
Father, You hold me in Your arms,
So give Your child a simple faith.

A life of love, a life of love,
In Jesus Christ a life of love.
Lord, as I live and breathe in You,
This wealth is mine: a life of love.

A thankful heart, a simple faith,
A life of love in You each day
Till we are one and face to face
And all is joy and endless praise!

Immersed in God

Father, when I focus on myself,
I get lost in the darkness of my
childish fears and
frustrated desires.
I am a prisoner in my own smallness.

But when I look up at the night sky,
I am immersed in Your glorious immensity,
O Sovereign God,
Eternal Creator,
my Lord,
my Father!
You who guide all this universe
guide my life as well,
silently,
seamlessly,
as I simply trust You.

I am Your dear child,
Your treasure,
and You leave nothing to chance.
You embrace me every moment
in Your mighty arms and
in the blanket of Your perfect love.

O Father,
my Father,
I am Yours!
I rest
right here in You!

Prayer Is Simply Talking to God

It is personal conversation with Him.

Who can pray?

Absolutely anyone.
God only asks that we trust Him –
that we believe
He is listening and
will respond to us.

How do I pray?

Simply talk to Him, from your heart.
You can pray in silence or out loud,
sitting, kneeling, or in any position.

How long should I pray?

Prayers can be as short as a single sentence, or
as long as you need them to be.

Where should I pray?

God is always with you and is always listening.
Pray anywhere – at home, at work, or
in the privacy of your car as you drive.
Pray alone or with others.

What should I talk to God about?

Whatever is on your mind.
Thank Him for His many wonderful gifts.
Share your problems and ask for His help.
Pray for others – for your family, your friends,
your nation, your world . . . or
for the person ahead of you in line.

God is always with you.
He always listens when you pray.
