Christ in Psalm 30

Psalm 30; Luke 22:53; John 17:3; Hebrews 2:11

In the light of Christ,
Psalm 30 becomes a
celebration of His glorious resurrection.
This hymn captures that celebration,
to a familiar tune.

Praise to You, O glorious Brother,
Humbled, now exalted high.
Once, like You, condemned and dying,
Now we breathe Your risen life.

Darkness ruled for but an hour,
Weeping lasted for a night.
Now the dawn, and what rejoicing!
Now the day of endless light!

Lord, Your favor lasts forever;
Pain and pleasure come and go.
Life in You is life eternal,
Heaven’s peace begun below.

All our grief is turned to dancing,
All is joy each moment new,
Praising, living, loving, sharing
Ever, only, all in You!

I Know That My Redeemer Lives

One of the most meaningful pieces from
Handel’s “Messiah” is
now a congregational hymn.
It expresses our joyful assurance in
the resurrection of Christ.

I know that my Redeemer lives
And He will stand on that final day,
My God, Himself the precious price,
Himself the ransom I could not pay.
And though death destroys this body,
He is my life forevermore!
I know that my Redeemer lives.
My Brother, my Champion, my Lord, and my Savior
Is risen from the dead!

I know that my Redeemer lives.
I’ll stand in Him on that final day,
In Him now bold, complete, and pure.
His blood has washed all my guilt away!
And though death destroys this body,
Yet in my flesh will I see God!
I know that my Redeemer lives.
My hope, my assurance, my joy, and my Savior
Is risen from the dead!

We Shall Rise in Jesus Christ!

1 Corinthians 15
prompts us to consider
the glories God has planned for
our resurrection bodies.

Recording
Printed Music

From death and all its suffering and
Its prison of despair,
Our Lord rose up to take His throne,
And we will join Him there!

Refrain:
Sown in darkness, raised in light,
Sown in weakness, raised in might,
As a flower blooms to life,
We shall rise in Jesus Christ!

The body that is planted here
Is just a tiny seed,
An acorn to the mighty oak
Of all we soon will be!

We’ll blossom in His likeness, and
Our glory will begin
With bodies made for worship and
For boundless life in Him.

So give yourself to serving Him,
Be strong and unafraid,
For all your faith and sacrifice
Will more than be repaid!

Psalm 118

Psalm 118,
repeatedly quoted by New Testament writers,
is particularly important during
Holy Week and Easter.
This hymn setting helps as sing the Psalm with
Jesus Christ as its focus.

We give thanks to God our Father!
Christ is with us! Christ is with us!
In His rich, unfailing goodness
Christ is with us! Praise His name!
When the fear and darkness threaten
All around and all within,
He is Light and Song and Savior.
Christ is with us! Praise His name!

In our suffering, in our sorrow,
Christ is with us! Christ is with us!
Victor, victim, Man of Sorrows,
Christ is with us! Praise His name!
On the mountain, through the valley,
Through the fire and through the sea,
He is Sovereign God forever.
Christ is with us! Praise His name!

Open wide the gates of splendor!
Christ is with us! Christ is with us!
Risen Savior, King of Glory,
Christ is with us!  Praise His name!
Holy, holy, holy Brother,
King and priest and sacrifice!
See salvation all completed!
Christ is with us! Praise His name!

A Celebration of Life

A Hymn for the Easter season

Recording
Printed Music

Death had mocked our deepest longings,
Death, the bitter end for all;
Nothing lasting, nothing higher
Till that Easter call:

Refrain:
He is risen!
Hallelujah!
Now the death that was our future
Is our destiny no more!
He is risen!
Hallelujah!
Now we share the holy majesty
Of Jesus Christ our Lord!

Joy and beauty, love and giving,
Life and light go on and on!
All that bound our fearful hearts to
Sin and death is gone!

Celebrate our endless future!
Celebrate our here and now!
Celebrate our noble purpose –
Love will show us how!
