The Full Assurance of Faith

A prayer response to Revelation 11:14-19,
the seventh trumpet

Lord God, help us live in the certainty of
who You are,
in the full assurance of Your
perfect power,
perfect wisdom, and
perfect love.
Help us live on earth
as if standing before Your throne in heaven.

Help us
love,
worship,
suffer, and
die
in the blazing light of
Your unchallenged authority,
Your unchanging goodness, and
Your unfailing faithfulness to
every detail of
every promise You have
ever made.

For such a sovereign God,
Your victory is now!
Our joy is now!
Your crowning as King of Kings and Lord of Lords is now!
Praise to You, Almighty God!

I Rejoice in Your Purpose Today

Recording
Printed Music

I rejoice in Your purpose today
Though the end may feel so far away.
I find peace in the love on Your face
And rejoice in Your purpose today.

I remember that You are the Lord,
And I feast on each promise I’ve heard.
What a strength when I stand on Your Word
And remember that You are the Lord.

Though confusion and struggle are all I can see
And I wrestle alone with my pain,
Lord, I know You are working this all for the best,
And my suffering is never in vain.

I rejoice in Your purpose today
Though the end may feel so far away.
I find peace in the love on Your face
And rejoice in Your purpose today.

Biscuits and Fish

When it was evening, the disciples came to Him and said, “This place is desolate and the hour is already late; so send the crowds away, that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.”

But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away; you give them something to eat!”

They said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”

And He said, “Bring them here to Me.” Ordering the people to sit down on the grass, He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up toward heaven, He blessed the food, and breaking the loaves He gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. (Matthew 14:15-19, NASB)

Father, You have shown me needy people.
There they are, spread out before me.
I see the need.
I feel the need.
It is very real.

I hold something that I believe could help.
But it is so small,
and I am so small.
I don’t know how to get this to them.
I don’t know how to begin to use it in any meaningful way.

So I bring it to You, Father –
just biscuits and fish.
Use it.
Use me.
I am small,
but You encompass all that is.
I am ignorant,
but Your knowing is perfect.
Your loving is perfect.

Father, I am available.
Show me where to start.

We Follow Jesus

A reflection on Revelation 11:7-13,
the triumph of the two witnesses

We are the followers of Jesus Christ,
His disciples,
His friends,
His brothers and sisters,
His body,
His bride.
As we are true to Him,
we will be treated like Him
by the world and
by You, Father.

In this world we will share His rejection,
His scorn,
His humiliation.
We will be disbelieved,
misunderstood,
mocked,
falsely accused, and
unfairly treated.
We will walk with Him
through suffering
to the cross,
to the tomb.

But as You raised Him,
You will raise us to eternal life.
Death can never touch us again.
In Him we will share
His triumph,
His glory,
His authority,
His constant and complete oneness with You, our Father.

Looking to Him,
seeing Him,
we leave everything else behind,
eagerly and completely.
We only want to
know Christ,
gain Christ, and
be found forever in Christ.

I Love You, Jesus, Savior, Lord

Recording
Printed Music

I love You, Jesus, Savior, Lord,
But not for what I gain
Of all the unimagined wealth
Of all Your vast domain.
I love You, Lord, but not in fear
As hell slips into view –
That endless, hopeless pain and death
Of never knowing You.

But Lord, You showed a love for me
That I could not deny.
Your agonizing death, O God –
I knew the guilt was mine.
You called my name. I heard Your voice
And saw You face to face.
A love and mercy flowed from You
That words could never trace.

So how can I but love You now,
My Savior and my Friend?
You pour out love I don’t deserve
And cannot comprehend.
I worship You, Almighty God,
And love You as I sing,
For You are Love and Life and Lord
And my Eternal King!

Hungry for a Word

Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. (John 6:68, NIV)

Loving Father,
Living Truth,
You speak to me—
to me, Lord God.

Is my heart listening?

My life is hungry
for a Word,
for a Song, with harmony,
for a Dance
that will let my body and soul,
my deepest desires and disjointed days,
move together
with joy and ease and music.

Dance with me, Lord;
dance with me.
Sing,
and I will move to the music.
Speak a Word,
One Living Word.
I am listening.

Who We Are in You

A prayer response to Revelation 11:1-6,
the two witnesses

Father, we seem so small in this large and hostile world.

But You are Almighty God, and
we are Your presence here.
Make us Your light
in this dark place.
Make us Your truth
amid all this deception.
May we be Your healing touch
where so many are suffering.
May we glow with Your joy
in this world of shadow and sorrow.
Let us shine with the beauty of Your holiness
where all is twisted by evil.
O Lord, help us be
Your generous hand to those in need,
the breath of Your peace to those who fear, and
the good news of grace to all who are crushed by guilt.

As we live in Your Spirit,
we are Your people,
Your witnesses,
Your body,
Your temple,
Your holy bride.

O Father, keep us faithful to
who You are and
who we are in You.

I Find All My Joy in You

Recording
Printed Music

I am always in Your heart,
I am in Your eye.
Though the storms may blow and rage
And the waters rise,
Lord, I know that You are love,
And my heart replies:
I will find all my joy in You.
Lord, I find all my joy in You.

You have put me where I am –
I will stand secure.
Though I cannot see ahead,
Every step is sure,
For Your presence is a light
That is clear and pure.
I will find all my joy in You.
Lord, I find all my joy in You.

Jesus, my life!
Jesus, my strength!
Jesus, my joy day to day!

I am always in Your heart,
I am in Your eye.
Though the storms may blow and rage
And the waters rise,
Lord, I know that You are love,
And my heart replies:
I will find all my joy in You.
Lord, I find all my joy in You.

When Temptation Comes

God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. (1 Corinthians 10:13, NIV)

If you remain in close contact with God, you are more likely to sense when temptation is intruding.

When it comes, go immediately to God. Don’t toy with the desire. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7). Remain in God’s presence in complete trust, humbly worshiping Him. Tell Him your weaknesses and struggles, and lovingly ask for His help.

The world, the flesh, and the Devil wage so fierce and constant a war that unless we depend on God, we will be dragged down. But in Him we always find the help we need.

Soul Food

A prayer response to Revelation 10:8-11,
eating the little book

Father, Your Word is
truth.
Your Word is
reality.
Your Word is Your heart, Father,
Your will,
Your wisdom,
Your light in our darkness.
Your Word is
the blessing You long to pour out on everyone You love.

Your Word is not just
facts to be filed or
knowledge to fill the mind.
Your Word is food,
not just for our bodies,
but for our complete selves.
Your Word is nourishment
to be thoroughly digested
so that Your Spirit can turn it into
action,
service,
beauty,
holiness, and
love.

Your Word is life.
Speak, Father!
Your children are hungry.
