Give Me the Mind of Christ

John 17:20-23; Philippians 2:1-8

“I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us.” (John 17:20-21, NASB)

If there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 2:1-5, NASB)

Father, I treasure the word of Christ,
constantly guiding and encouraging.
I treasure the comfort provided by Your love,
ministered through Your children.
I treasure sharing in Your Holy Spirit,
who draws all of us together into You.
I treasure Your mercy and Your compassion, which You pour out richly
to us and through us.

Therefore, Father, flush out all my petty pride, and
replace it with the sweet freedom of humility.
Free me from anxious self-seeking and
turn my heart toward the rich blessings of unity.
Too long I have craved a glory that is meaningless and empty of all reality.
Instead, fill my life with the pleasure of sharing Your love.

O Father, give me the mind of Christ!
Give me His Spirit, His heart, His joy!
He gave up far more than I have or am,
and He chose the pleasure of pleasing You.
Even as He faced a brutal and humiliating death,
His heart eagerly embraced You.

That’s what I want, Father.
Give me His mind.
Grow in me the single-minded trust and wholehearted love
of an obedient Son
for His loving Father.
Unite us completely and forever in Jesus Christ!

I Need the Mind of Christ

Father, what I need most right now,
this moment,
is the mind and Spirit of Christ.
Facing this day,
these concerns, and
all the needy people around me,
I need the mind and Spirit of Christ.
Nothing less than Him will
make me who I need to be.

Father, I bow and
ask and
depend completely on You.
Help me think and
speak and
respond like Him.

What Do You Wish?

The Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream at night; and God said, “Ask what you wish Me to give you.” (1 Kings 3:5, NASB)

Father, if you were to ask me this,
how would I respond?
What would I wish for?

Father, You are eternal.
You are all-wise and
all-loving.
You are all joy.
You are all truth.
You are harmony,
perfection, and
peace.

Father, I want to please You.
That is my wish.
I want to please You in my thinking and
please You in my doing.
I want to please You in my daily activity and
please You in the deepest desires of my heart.
I want to please You in my working and
please You in my waiting.
I want to please You in my praying and
please You in all my unguarded moments.

I want to please You
as Your Son pleased You.
Father, give me
His mind,
His heart,
His faith,
His peace in You.
That is what I ask.
I ask for the Holy Spirit of Your Son Jesus.

“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?” (Luke 11:13, NASB)

Following the Father

from the book, ONE WITH OUR FATHER

John 8:12; Luke 4

“I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” (John 8:12, NASB)

Father, I say I want to follow You,
but how easily I am distracted by my own desires.
If I get my eyes off You,
I begin following my agenda,
not Yours.

Because Jesus maintained
His close and constant relationship with You,
He followed You into the harsh wilderness,
conquered temptation, and
was empowered by Your Spirit (Luke 4:1-14).

He obediently spoke the unpopular truth in His hometown (Luke 4:14-30).

He confronted a demon in Capernaum and banished him (Luke 4:31-35).

He spoke with Your authority and wielded Your power over evil (Luke 4:36-37).

He healed all the sick brought to Him (Luke 4:38-41).

Though His schedule was demanding, He rose early to pray (Luke 4:42).

He knew when to ignore popular pressure and move on (Luke 4:42-44).

Father, that’s what I need:
Your enabling for my weakness;
Your wisdom for my ignorance.
Father, give me the Spirit of Christ!

Fill My Thoughts

Search me, O God, and
know my heart;
test me and
know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me, and
lead me in the way everlasting.
(Psalm 139:23-24 NIV)

Lord God, You honor me by being with me always.
I am unworthy of You,
but You love me.
You want to be with me.
You want us to be one in heart.

You are love, and You want me to be loving.
You are pure, and You want me to be pure in heart.
You are gentle and kind, and You want me to be as You are.

Patient, gentle, loving Jesus,
give me Your Spirit.
Give me Your mind.
Give me Your heart.

Lord, fill my thoughts
with what pleases You.
